Hong Kong has been through A LOT! We have been stuck at homes that have never looked cleaner, and Zoomed with just about everyone from our boss to our bartender. While we have faced a number of challenges and disruptions, this time has also provided us with the space to reflect on ourselves and find out some interesting truths about who we are.
To showcase the global commonality of our experiences, the Hong Kong Players are collaborating with the community and are putting together a series of performance, entitled ‘The Corona Monologues’ to be performed in online for all to join.
All proceeds raised from this performance will be donated to HANDS ON Hong Kong, to help those most vulnerable and in need during this time.

Feeling alone and left out? What do you do when the world chooses everyone else but you? This Corona bottle is definitely feeling the effects of the virus!
Watch David’s performance of “The Corona Monologues” to see just how bad this beer is feeling during this pandemic.
David has lived in Hong Kong for 12 years. During that time he has done three shows for Aurora Theatre, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, Den of Thieves, and Duetto, as well a school production. He loves the process of creating theatre productions, even if he doesn’t get to do it as often as he would like. When he heard of the opportunity to join such a creative team of writers and performers for such a pressing cause, he knew he wanted to be a part of it. Who knew that there were so many great writers in Hong Kong?!
Finding love in the time of Corona is hard and Juliet is feeling it! But girl, she’s got Romeo so she good!
Watch Kathy’s performance of “Love Lockdown” to see Juliet, um, find love?!
As a freelance Digital Marketer, fortunately Kathy was already used to working from home before COVID hit Hong Kong. She hopes that through the Corona Monologues, she can once again, following her parody video that went viral in February, help to express the frustrations and reality of what people have been going through around the world. This time, through amazing pieces that were written by other people.
Her theatre credits include the title role in Snow White the Panto, Secret Theatre, Marcy Park in Putnam County Spelling Bee, Ariel Moore in Footloose and Judy Wong in A Chorus Line. She has also choreographed for several pantomimes by Hong Kong Players including Aladdin and Cinderella which was held in the Udderbelly festival.
When she’s not preparing for a theatre production, Kathy can be seen performing in events around Hong Kong from corporate events, private parties, children’s shows and fundraisers.

She has worked with HK Players, HK Singers, Faust, Curtain Call Productions, Stylus Productions, ACT, Signature Entertainment, Hot Currie Productions and Dog Eared Films. Gail is delighted to be appearing with HK Players again with Director Giuliana Colarossi who also directed her in The Virtuous Burglar. In her native UK, alongside teaching, Gail moonlighted as a presenter and newsreader for BBC Radio and local television. Gail has Speech and Drama qualifications from London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, plus a variety of singing, dancing and voiceover credits. Lockdown got you feeling a little crafty? Hoarding is okay when it’s a knitting stash, right?!
Watch Janet’s performance of “Crafty Corona” and hear the wise ‘purls’ of wisdom this savvy knitter has to offer.
Janet is a manic knitter, and runs Knitting Club at Kellett School where she works in the Music Department.
She is thrilled at this chance to combine her two passions of knitting and theatre. Starting out on stage as an angel in school Christmas shows, Janet has never looked back. She has often been backstage at the Hong Kong Players’ panto and was a Henchman (or woman!) in 2019.
Janet has spent the last few months working through her yarn and fabric stash, but doesn’t expect to have idle hands any time soon. This is the first time she’s performed her own work and she hopes you enjoy her yarn!
Does the virus have a leader? Ever wondered how the virus leader feels about all this?
Watch Éamonn’s performance of “Viral Catch” to get a inside look of the address to the nation given by the menacing leader.
Éamonn Barry has been involved in theatre shenanigans for as long as he has been able to, which is only around 10 years but alas he is proud to be apart of the Corona Monologues cast. He has recently been accepted into the National Youth Theatre and has been with the Hong Kong youth theatre company, Faust for long enough that you might spot him in one of their ads. He is excited to use his acting abilities for a cause in supporting the many people who have found themselves in impossibly difficult situations because of the pandemic. Performing has always been one of his passions along with referring to himself in the 3rd person in ever bio. He would like to thank you, specifically you, for donating to helping those less fortunate. It’s no secret that the coronavirus has hurt as all, but supporting the arts, and those who have suffered immensely, is an important start.
