Call for writers and performers!
Hong Kong has been through A LOT! We have been stuck at homes that have never looked cleaner, and Zoomed with just about everyone from our boss to our bartender. While we have faced a number of challenges and disruptions, this time has also provided us with the space to reflect on ourselves and find out some interesting truths about who we are.
To showcase the global commonality of our experiences, the Hong Kong Players are collaborating with the community and are putting together a series of monologues, entitled ‘The Corona Monologues’ to be performed in September. We are looking for writers and performers to collaborate and bring this performance to life. This will be staged live or online, depending on the circumstances at the time.

Where: The performance will be done either at bar or online depending on the situation of the Coronavirus
Writers
We are looking for original texts on the theme of ‘The Corona Monologues’. These can be fiction, non-fiction, or verbatim texts relating to people’s experiences during this time. Submissions should be between 500 and 1000 words. These pieces will be performed, so write with a character’s voice in mind.

First submission deadline for texts is 1 June 2020.
Performers
We are looking for actors and performers to perform these original pieces. This can be through voice or movement. If there is an existing text that you think relates to the theme of “The Corona Monologues”, you are welcome to submit this as well. In this case, please provide the author/playwright and title.
Please express your interest to audition by completing the following Google Form by 11 May 2020. Auditions will be held in May and June.
I recently sent HK Players an on line form asking for an audition for the Covid-19 Monologues. I know that auditions will start in a few days’ time, but I have received no confirmation that my application was received or that I will be called to audition.
