Who We Are?
Working with Passion
OUR MISSION
To provide opportunities to create, perform and promote community theatre in Hong Kong.
OUR VISION
To continue to engage the Hong Kong community through theatre and be a prominent feature in the city’s performing arts culture.
Our Committee
Elliot Watson
Chair
A teacher by day, crew member by night, Elliot came to Hong Kong from the UK in 2014. Since then, he’s helped the Players at numerous events and supported other community theatre projects across Hong Kong. He joined as a more technically-minded committee member, and first encountered backstage work at his hometown Bolton Little Theatre; where he crewed for shows as varied as Sherlock Holmes, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and ‘Dad’s Army, Live’. In Hong Kong, he served as the stage manager for multiple performances and has recently been elected the Chairperson of the Players. He’s often stood next to a kettle, and can make a mean cup of tea!
Laura Dodwell-Groves
Social Secretary
When not backstage at one of the 30 odd shows she has worked as stage manager, director or producer around the world, Laura might be found taking to the microphone as one of HK’s resident quiz masters. Her MA in Children’s Literature has so far proved useful in determining the secret meaning in fairy tales and beanstalks throughout this production, though her research into the significance of the back end of the Panto cow Ermentrude will have to continue
Jo Murphy
Treasurer
A newbie to the committee, Jo serves as the Treasurer. She is currently writing her bio!
Christine Messervy
Committee Member
Christine is new to the committee, but has been in Hong Kong many years and has been backstage crew for numerous Panto’s. By day she works for a publishing company, but backstage can usually be found with a needle and thread!
